overpaints
With fire, soot, and ash, i.e. painting means of transitoriness such as the egg
tempera painting technique, the means of painting of the past, I try to cover
fragments of ancient manuscripts, photographs or torn off pieces of a poster
in order to unveil, to blacken, and to illuminate them. By overpainting the photos
and paintings I try to restore what they have lost - their secrets.
